potty training

I think at our house it should be called accident training. I'm not having success this week with Ethan. This morning he peed on the floor. After we cleaned it and had that LONG talk about where the potty goes, I decided he fully understood and would not do it again.
He then pooped in his pants in the playroom. So, I cleaned him up, put him on the potty and we had another LONG talk about where poo-poo goes. I went to change R's diaper while E was sitting on the potty and then I smelled something weird coming out of the bathroom. I jumped up and ran in there in time to find all the roll of toilet paper on the floor (in shreds) and the can of Febreeze completely sprayed all over his body, the bathroom and the shower curtain.
When I asked him what on earth he was doing, he said "My poo-poo is stinky, so I needed this good smell in here."

Yeah.

Ah what fun. I seriously hated potty training! :) The febreeze thing is pretty cute though; at least he wants to smell nice. ;-)

I gave my mom a bunch of trouble too, so my dad ended up potty training me. He just spent one day of making me sit on the toilet until I went. My mom said I was very stubborn and ended up falling alseep on the toilet instead of just doing what my dad wanted and going pee. BUT, the next morning my mom said I just got out of bed, walked into the bathroom, and used the toliet!

I know. It made me go from so mad, to laughing out loud. He does that to me a lot. :)
God's teaching me a lot of lessons through potty training Ethan. I potty trained Tess and Tom when they were under 2 years old and so I was so judgmental when it came to others who couldn't potty train their kids until they were 3 or 4. I'm probably going to be working with Ethan until he's 5!!
God has a sense of humor. :)

Well, none of our boys were potty trained until they were about 3.5 or so. Lizzy was earlier. I learned through our experience that it's easier to wait until they are ready. With Tim and Dan, I waited and it seriously only took ONE day! :) And every kid is different so you never know!

I'm just bummed because when he was 18 months he was totally interested and using the potty A LOT, but I was advised to by pass it and not make a huge deal out of it. I think it was our moment to jump on.
Oh well. I can see what you mean about waiting until they totally get it and then just doing it, in one day. I think that will be Ethan.
My issue with him now is, he doesn't mind sitting in potty at all! Its annoying.

seriously. I saw Lori Myers the other day (at the memorial service) and could not get over how HUGE her kids are! By "huge" I mean tall. Its crazy! I told Jacob I used to change his diapers (he's now 15) and the look on his face was priceless. :)
