his insight

Today Ethan amazed me.  My 6 1/2 year old son spoke words I would've only imagined an adult being able to comprehend  or even realize he was hearing what he was hearing.  I have no idea what triggered this.  And when I asked him "what made you say that?"  he really didn't know either.  His reply was something like, "oh, I just thought of it, because its always what happens."  He came up to me today and said, "Mommy, how come people say they don't believe in God;  They say He's not really real and they don't love Him.  But then if something bad happens, or something scary is about to happen, they blame God for it?!" Um, yes. Good question, son. I've often wondered this.

saying goodbye

When we moved to this neighborhood 2 years ago, we were new to everything that surrounded us. New to the state and so, obviously,  new to the city. New weather patterns, new church, new job, new friends. There's a certain part of me that has grown very fond of this neighborhood and very attached to it, for those reasons. I feel like moving from here is going to be the first big step we've had to take since moving away from our home in California. And it sounds so silly to admit since we'll only be a short drive away, but its honestly how I feel. I'm extremely excited about our new home. We all are. Every time Jason and I go there, we pinch ourselves and can't believe the awesome ways in which God is blessing us. Our new landlords are the sweetest couple {we've already been talking about adopting each other as family}, the rent is cheaper, but the home is larger and its on a 1/2+ acre of land! But... we're leaving behind the only place we've known

The Rehearsal Dinner

Image
{the wedding and reception photos are below this post}  Jason and Katie Bliss {Katie is David's sister} threw a great Rehearsal dinner for us!  They BBQ'd meat and the side salads and such were delicious.  It was so much fun having family and friends together in one place, and, here in Washington!  We had friends we've known since before Emily was even born,  friends we've known since I was a teenager and then bringing together friends who are  now family, thanks to Emily and David :)  I really enjoyed seeing everyone and getting to celebrate the upcoming wedding.   David's Aunt and his Mom's friend Ben   Grace, Mike, Emily R. and Emily {my sister}      Anna & Amber {my sister}  Jenny {David's sister} holding her nephew Elliott      Peggy, my Mom and Ethan     me, Emily and Amber     "Betti" girls, with Mom and Dad     Rachel loves legos  the Bride & Groom  {the night before}

::The Wedding Day::

{if you want to see Reception pics, be sure to look below this post} David and Emily couldn't have asked for a better day to get married. The weather was a perfect {slightly too warm} 85 degrees, the water looked gorgeous and the park was beautiful. I cannot believe my little sister is married! I also can't believe we've been so blessed with a guy like David in our family. The wedding was really nice and always such a joy to see two people joining their lives together.                          this is how my Dad feels about walking his last daughter down the aisle :)  Jason with my Dad      David's nephew Ash, with Kara and Rachel  I originally thought these were Emily's shoes...  but it looks like someone else decided to go barefoot :)      The view was gorgeous and I don't know why the sky looks hazy.  It was deep blue and beautiful. I wonder if my flash was on again :(      The Groom     David's Niece, Juli
