Christmas in California ~ at the Bettis

Image
We arrived at my parent's house Christmas morning. We called them from their front yard and told them we were ready to Skype with them to open gifts. While we waited in the yard, my Uncle 'remembered' something he left in his car outside ;-) He came outside and we all walked in the house behind him, but he carried Miles and when he got in the house he said to my Mom, "look what I found in your front yard!" My Mom's reaction was awesome. She first had a totally confused look on her face. Almost like, "who's baby is he holding?" and then I stuck my head out and when she saw me, she got it. Screams, tears, hugs, laughter - made the LONG trip and the 2 months of planning totally worth it. Between Jason's Dad turning 60 this month and my whole family being together for the first time in about 5 years, we decided Christmas in California was a definite must. And even though the traveling is really difficult, being with family makes it totally wort

Christmas in California ~ at the Arnolds

Our time with family always seems to fly by way too fast, but we're thankful even for the shorter visits. We arrived at Jason's parents house Saturday night and were greeted with hugs and screams and so much excitement. Uncle Jeff and Aunt Jenny were able to spend the whole time with us there as well, which was a double bonus!    took these two pictures in the "cry room" at Grandpa and Grandma's church on Sunday morning.     my babies.  Uncle Jeff is pretty much the world's best Uncle.  He's always playing with the kids, telling them fun stories and   makes them feel like the most important kids in the world. We love him.      in his Christmas pj's!  Uncle, Aunt, Nephews and Nieces, oh my!   with Grandma and Grandpa   we rubbed off on them. Or maybe we got it from them? ;-)      Jeff sang a song for us that he wrote right after Miles was born. It was beautiful and brought    this Mama to tears. Thank y

Hope you all had a very Merry Christmas! We decided to be totally predictable and surprise family for the holiday. Thankfully for us my family didn't assume we'd do that two years in a row and was completely shocked to see us. So we pulled it off in a good way :) Coolest thing about this post? I'm in the car, as a passenger, posting as we head home. Crazy technology. Jason's family knew we were coming, which was fun. We got to plan with them and let a little of the anticipation out. We left Washington last Friday morning {not terribly early} and drove to Vancouver to meet up with a childhood friend, Kirsten. Childhood as in, Jason met her shortly after she was born and we baby sat her when we were younger. Yes. We're old. Finally got to meet her cute daughter Ivy and enjoyed a nice lunch together. After leaving Vancouver we slowly {due to traffic} made our way to Medford, where we spent the night at a motel. We loved breaking the trip up into two days. Ev

Miles: eight months

Miles! My sweet boy, you're 8 months old.  As we get closer to the 12 month mark I feel like I'm holding my breath. Not because I don't want you to be 1... but I don't really want you to be 1.  Its SO fun enjoying you as our sweet little baby - I promise we will still love you as you get older :)  You've been changing a lot these days; I'm having to jot down notes throughout the day and keep your 1-year calendar in the kitchen so I won't forget any important dates of milestones.  You're right on the cusp of really crawling all over the place. Right now you scoot and crawl backwards, but the other day you shocked us by pulling yourself up using a chair and standing!  Your sisters were screaming and clapping with excitement, which only spurred you on.  Your sleep patters have had their ups and downs this past month. I think your two bottom teeth had something to do with that. Once they came in, we were able to get you on a nice slee
