a new do?

As many of you know, I get my computer time in when the kids are either napping or in bed for the night. I think because of that, I can be quite engrossed when I am on it, knowing my time is limited.

Yesterday I was enjoying a nice chat with a friend, in which we discussed politics, Christianity and more. I was deeply engrossed in our conversation, I didn't hear my two munchkins get out of bed and very quietly (and deceitfully) head for my bathroom. I'm guessing Ethan peeked around the hallway corner and saw me busy, so knew it would be safe to get into stuff without my knowing.
I suddenly heard laughing and jumping around and so I shut the computer and went looking. What I found was our son, giving our daughter a nice haircut! Yes, with scissors. He chopped about an inch off the back of her head. She was patiently sitting there, waiting to see her new do.

They saw me and of course, looked extremely guilty, but oh! so cute! :) I had a hard time disciplining them, but I managed to keep a straight face and continued saying "Mommy is so ashamed of you, Ethan" to remind him that, no matter how un-mad I looked, I was in fact not happy.
Thankfully he took a nice clump of her longer hair at the bottom, so it was super easy to fix. She just has a really short, curly haircut now! I was going to take pictures yesterday, but I'd rather wait a few days so they don't realize I'm taking pictures of their naughtiness. :)

Too funny! How come almost all kids do this, or at least try to do this? And very smart of you to wait for pictures... :)

I know! I did think the day was coming, but didn't expect it to be now. It just really scared me to see my 3 year old with scissors in his hand, using them on his sister. :-\

its actually super cute... but a little too short for my taste. She looks like a little 50's girl. Its up to her ears and super curly. Lots of pictures are coming soon... on our other website though. :)

Oh dear...

Lizzy did that to herself when she was about Ethan's age. Maybe you remember Stef? Only she cut her bangs that we had just gotten all grown out! She chopped them off right in front, b/c "they were in eyes." Aaaah!

I remember when Lizzy did that! I was so glad Ethan only cut the bottom of her hair. I will post some pix asap.

Ha Ha Ha! Just have to laugh at the things kids do! At least it wasn't so bad that you couldn't fix it easily. Hopefully they learned thier lesson.

One Thousandth blog post + GIVEAWAY!!

This marks the  one thousandth blog post   for me !  If you added the blogging over at Jastef.net, I'm sure it would be far more, but I haven't blogged over there since Kara was a baby. For my simple mind, Blogger worked out much better for me. Sorry, husband.  I've been at this blogging thing for almost 8 years and I'm still not sick of it! keeping the sickies away

Probably like most of you Moms, I've been sick of being sick throughout the winter. Its such a fun, holiday time of year and totally stinks when you're stuck inside, with illnesses. And, if you're not a fan of getting a vaccine for every little bug that goes around, you end up realizing you have to do your research to learn how to build up the immune systems and keep your brood healthy. I'm also learning that when it comes to sickness {we're talking sickness that won't cause death}, its actually good for our bodies to learn to fight things off naturally and not constantly running to get shots or drugs to cure us from ever getting sick again {which those shots don't do anyway}.  I'm no pro and my oldest child isn't even 7 yet, so I'm definitely not posting this to teach you ladies anything. And, for those of you with older kids, feel free to leave tips for how you keep your family healthy or natural ways to fight off colds and viruses.  ...
