an "ug" sort of post...

I try not to whine very often on here, because that's what my journals are for. :)
But... such is life and I know all you dear female (and mostly Mommy) friends will relate, so here goes.

This has been a tough week! Not necessarily for my family, but just for me. In may ways I feel very much like my friend Heather has felt on her blog... like I'm drowning.
Between rushing Rachel to the ER last week, then dealing with Ethan's stomach flu directly after, then getting his Asthma coming in full fledged, due to allergy season and then today, finding out he not only has to have the surgery to remove his adenoids, but ALSO has to have tubes put in both ears. Eek!

I'm constantly amazed at how well Jason and the kids handle stress like this so well. They just move on, keep ticking and take life one day at a time. I think I handle it better when I'm not pregnant, but being pregnant I feel like this emotional side of me is taking over, full force. I'm lucky if I can grab 3-5 hours of sleep each night and in the morning I'm faced with two very hyper kids that want to go, go, go and never stop.
I feel like my prayer life is all I have, spiritually speaking, because I'm at the point where I'm barely able to get decent, solid Bible time in. I do read it, but its like a Psalm here, a Proverb there, one short verse to take with me through the day, but nothing in depth and I SO miss that.
I'm longing for the day when these health issues are at least mostly gone.

The thankful part: Rachel is very healthy (right now) and I'm so thankful to God for that. Ethan has totally impressed us with how well he's taken to the big boy potty and that's helped life also. Jason's job being local has been... amazing, to say the least. He's home every night by 5:15 and is so helpful and takes the kids to the park while I finish dinner prep or just clean the house in silence. :)
So, although its rough, I do have lots to be thankful for. I need to focus on that.
The thing I have to remind myself of is, its okay to cancel life for a while and just be here, together. Ethan has the personality that loves to be busy, on the go and constantly learning. So when life has to stop, he has a rough time with that.
We've been creative during this down time though -- He can spell him name out on paper, he now knows his birthday and our address and he's learning Bible verses as well. Haha, something to show for it.

OK... the post might have been dull for you to read, but it just helped me better my attitude. :)

Dear Friend! I know we just chatted, but wanted to remind you I am praying for you and your family. Crazy hormones, no sleep, sick kids, worry over Ethan's coming surgeries...it's valid that you feel the way you do. This time will pass and you will catch a second wind. Just keep going mamma.

Thanks Jess. Since you said we just chatted, I'm going to assume this is Jess Green and when it says "Jess" it must be Jess Kemper. Ahhh, the confusion. :)

I keep telling myself that... "this time will pass". This is all making the pregnancy go by so fast, which is nice. We're all eager for the surgery to be over and the baby to be born and life to continue on. :)

(((hugs))) to you! You are in the thick of a stage in life where you just sort of keep going with the whirlwind! It's overwhelming and physically draining. Hang in there, take those little gems of time where you can read a verse or two in God's Word and know that He will give you the grace you need to get through each day's happenings. :)

I'll pray for little Ethan.
Hang in there Stef! It is so stressful- the "reality" of raising kids- being up all nights & getting them through the sicknesses, but you will be strengthened by our Father. He will give you your endurance. I will pray for your family. We are right there beside you in the trenches of this yuckiness! "Just keep swimming, Just keep swimming, Swimming..." : (Can you tell we've watched Nemo all day since Jack has been sick???) :-) I love you, Stef!
I think that must have been J. Kemper :)

Stef, don't worry about slowing down for a little while. It will be good for you all. Also, allow yourself and your family to go grab take-out and call it good for a night. No dinner prep and clean up. You have a lot on your plate.

Like you always say, "the days are long, but the years are short."

Love you,

Jess Green

Haha! Its my friend Jessica Smitts! I feel so dumb, but I always think of her as Jessi and so when I see Jessica, it throws me through a loop. :)
So now there's three Jess's on here. Jess Green's says the abe green family and the Jess K's says Jess and Jess Smitts is Jessica. Woo-hoo!!

I'm sure this isn't exciting to anyone else, but I'm happy to have figured it out.

I'm going to leave a comment just so I can see what my name shows up as. I agree with Jess Green's comment though. :)

Thanks to all the Jessicas for commenting for me to figure out who you all are! :)

Here's my final results:

Jessica = Jessi Smitts
the abe green family = Jess Green
Jess= Jess Kemper
I guess the name "jessica" was a little popular 20 to 30 years ago! LOL What a mess! Guess this should teach us to avoid popular names for our kiddos!
