its good
Life has been very good. I'm feeling very blessed. And for no real reason, other than knowing I am blessed. God is good all the time. Its so easy to say, but that's only because its so true. Saying "I love you" to someone you don't really feel those loving feelings for, is very hard. But when you feel it so deeply, its so easy to get carried away and go on and on like a fool.
Baby Ainsley is home! Her surgery was a complete success and she appears to be doing quite well. I got to see her yesterday and she's such a little sweetheart. She has the most silky hair that has a color I've never really seen on a baby. Seriously, it looks like her parents colored it a perfect shade of red and blond, mixed with deep brown. I couldn't believe how tiny she still is, but the good news is, she's gotten back up to her birth weight! We're still praying for her because she does still have the hole in her heart and so if she doesn't gain weight it can mean there are still issues that need to be fixed and not put off as previously thought. So if you could pray, her parents would appreciate it.
I have no idea why I'm posting right now. Jason and I are watching the movie Juno and its not a movie you have to stare at non-stop and I (for some reason) felt like blogging. So here I am.
Life feels so busy these days. Even when we're not going anywhere, there is so much to do just at home. Ethan, being 4 is at a fun age, but also a more trying age. And maybe its not his age, its just his personality. He just needs a lot of stimulation and one on one time. Its fun when I'm able to devote my time to him, but not so fun when he has to learn patience and selflessness. Don't get me wrong. I'm not saying I think he should be doted on non-stop and made to feel like the most special person in my world. We're loving our time of "preschool" and I get the biggest kick out of his desire to learn new things. Because he and Rachel are only 17 months apart, they've been doing their learnng side-by-side. I didn't really plan it that way because I'm not a mom who's in a hurry to grow her kids up fast. I figured Rachel would start probably in September (having "learning time" with Mommy) but she wanted to sit with us and be in on the fun and to my surprise, she's caught onto some things quicker than Ethan!
Rachel is at a cute 2 1/2 stage. I'm not sure our kids have ever had the "terrible two's" when they're supposed to. Ethan hit them at 18 months and I'm not sure Rachel has hit them yet. She is a little Mommy and quite the princess around here. When she was first born, I remember telling Jason "I just don't want her to turn into a prissy princess" and I've come to realize, you can't turn them into something they're not. I love that she's into her girly side and loves all things feminine. Sunday mornings she literally sits on the edge of the bathtub watching me put on my make-up for church and she says over and over "is that make-up, Mommy? You know how to do that real good!" like she's my little cheerleader. I also realized that there is absolutely nothing wrong with her even pretending to be a princess. As long as she's a kind one that thinks of others before herself. :-)
She's often found walking around the house with one of my nursing covers around her neck, telling Ethan "I'll be right back, Efan. I need to feed my baby." And the other day we caught them totally acting like Jason and me. She told him she needed "to feed the baby before I start dinner, cuz she isn't gonna be happy until dinner is in her tummy" to which Ethan replied "Oh! Let me get you a big cup of water then!" Yes, my hubby is faithful at bringing me big cups of water every time he sees me nursing. He's a keeper.
Jason is amazing. I love him so much and am amazed every day at what a faithful and honorable man he's become. Aside from his love for Christ, I get the biggest joy seeing him with our kids. I love his relationship with them and I love the light I see in their eyes when they see Daddy. I love his sense of humor. He makes me laugh at least a couple times a day. I mean a real, honest to goodness gut laugh. It can't go unsaid... I love that he turns me on. There I said it. Probably shocked half of you out there. Sorry. But we're married, with 3 kids, so its really all good.
As the movie just quoted: "he is the cheese to my macaroni."
And then there's Kara. I just blogged about her, so I won't blubber on and on about her. She's just such a love munch. I can't get enough of her. I kiss her cheeks all the time. She's irresistible to me. She loves Jason a lot. It still makes me jealous too. She'll finish nursing and then give him the biggest smile. I am glad she loves Daddy so much, but Mommy would like some recognition here. :)
Kara continues to live up to her middle name - Joy.
My Bible studies that I attend are going really well; great actually. Wednesday mornings are amazing. Really, they are. I love all the ladies in my class and we have such great times together. We're in Isaiah, which has its rough weeks, but has still been "fun" to study. Friday morning studies have also been a real blessing. The book we're reading is SO good. There have been a couple chapters that hit me like a ton of rocks (in a good way) and give me the feeling of God tapping on my shoulder saying "that was from Me." I love those moments. I've learned to appreciate them more now that I'm a busy wife and Mommy.
If I could sum up the things God has been teaching me in 2009 (so far) it would be: Trusting Him, hoping in Him and serving Him. Sitting back and being still and quiet is a hard thing for me to do, in any situation. I like to be busy and fixing things. So God has taken my 29th year of life to teach me what it means to be still and know that He is God. Its very refreshing. :-) I am so very thankful to Him for the ways He goes about teaching me and growing me in His grace. His great presence in my life makes everything else going on in today's world seem... small.
I'm planning on making our 1st St. Patrick's Day dinner! We've always gone somewhere on that day, but this year I'm making it. Hoping I don't mess it all up.
I still think its funny that when we pretend to be Irish here in America, we eat a meal that they rarely (if ever) eat in Ireland. Always makes me laugh.
I've really rambled quite a bit here. I always feel like apologizing, but my feeling is always that you have the choice to read or not to read. The day these things become mandatory is the day I'll stop reading. :-) I also have so many pictures to update... again. Another time, another post.
I will say to those of you who have read to this point - Kudos. You're my biggest fans.
