Pre-op Consultation

Today we take Kara to her pre-op consultation in Oakland. This is all happening so fast, but I think I prefer faster, rather than going slowly and having too much time to think about it, like I did with Ethan's.

If you see this post before 3pm today, please pray that the surgeon will also agree that she only needs tubes put in at this point. We're really hoping they agree to hold off on her adenoids, since its a much bigger surgery if you take those out. We were told by the Dr. here, that the surgeon might schedule her surgery for as early as tomorrow or Friday! I think we'd actually prefer that, since we've got a wedding next week that at least Jason needs to be at.

Also, please pray that if E&R actually have the flu, that Jason, Kara and I won't suddenly be throwing up on surgery day. For those of you who don't know, E&R discovered some coffee creamer in the bottom door of the fridge on Saturday afternoon and, thinking it was vanilla milk (E's favorite) they brought it into his bedroom and had a tea party with it; drinking the entire container, which was left over from our Christmas party in December.
Within about 5 hours, they were both on there back, crying that their tummies hurt, running fevers and then Jason found the container in E's bedroom. They ran fevers and complained of tummy aches for about 24 hours and then began throwing up. Rachel has only done that once and now seems fine. Ethan continued to throw up all day yesterday. So we shall see.

Hopefully you weren't eating something when you read this post. :(

I will be praying for the appointment to go well!

Also, not that this means anything, but it might be a flu bug. We had something similar a couple weeks ago and because it was so short and violent we figured food poisoning of some sort. But, 7 people got it within 2 days and none of them ate the same stuff... The good news is, only one or two people from each family got it, and it didn't spread to the whole family. (About 6 families!). I will be praying also you guys don't get sick, if it is the flu.

Thanks, Krista! I have a strange feeling it was the flu, but the nurse at Kaiser feels like its way to coinsidental that E&R drank the creamer and then at the same time, about 5 hours later, they both were running fevers and throwing up. She said its really rare to have 2 kids in the same family come down with flu symptoms at the same exact time. However, I'm sure its not impossible. It seemed very different from our typical flu - lasted much longer than 12-24 hours, but you never know. I've been keeping them away from other people, just in case it is the flu though :)
