Breakfast

Rachel loves to watch me cook and lately she has decided that she'd like to really learn how. This morning she asked "Can you teach me how to really cook? Like cutting onions and cracking eggs and everything?" I think she's tired of just doing pancakes :)
So she helped me make an egg scrambler, with lots of veggies in it and I taught her how to use a knife all by herself. She surprised me by being very methodical and careful. I snapped a few pix with my cell phone and thought I'd share.

This is the apron Jase and I got her for her birthday :)

Kara's job was eating whatever fell on the floor

Thanks, Jess! I bought that apron at Anthropology in SF. It was a birthday splurge for our girl :)

Stef!! This is precious and priceless.
I hope God blesses me with a daughter someday. Because I want this exact scene transferred into my own kitchen someday. :)
Thanks for the smiles. This was just what my day needed. :)

Oh, I'm glad Melissa! I didn't really like to cook when I was younger, so I had no idea what to expect out of my girls. Rachel definitely loves it. She's always begging and so I love to take those opportunities to enjoy cooking time with her.

She is such a cutie! And you are such a good momma to let her experiment in your kitchen. Sometimes it is hard as moms to let the kids participate in kitchen duties and a lot of times make a mess...yesterday my 8 year old made Banana Bread and later in the afternoon I found flour in the flatware drawer...

Awww! These pictures are SO cute! What a big girl! Lizzy likes to help cook too; what fun for us as Moms to teach our little girls!

Oh my, are you ever brave! If I gave Jackson a knife, it would probably become a real weapon. He would stab the cat or cut a hole in my couch or something else destructive. Girls are so different from boys!!!

You know what, Stef? I was just thinking about this and wanted to pop back over to post another comment. :)
Even though I don't have a daughter, my 15 month old son is already a chef in training! His *favorite* thing is when I make bread. He loves the mixer, he loves to check the bread in the oven, he loves to watch me knead. And whenever I stir or sautee something, he is adamant that he is lifted up to help me do it.
I LOVE THAT. :)
