The Menu
I've had a lot of fun trying new recipes for the holidays. This is the first time in my life that I'm not falling back on my Mom's wonderful cooking, never really having to take it on, all by myself. I've hosted Christmas for Jason's side of the family for the past 3 years, but everyone pitches in and brings food, so even then, I've not had to do ALL the cooking. Thankfully our family is still quite small, so I'm really only having to make it for Jase and me. Our kids pretty much eat anything, aside from boiled spinach. Oh, Ethan hates canned peaches. Anyway...
We're feasting on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day and then Sunday we're having friends over and feasting some more! We'll be rolling ourselves into the New Year ;)
Christmas Eve dinner will be as follows:
Wild Rice & Apples with stuffing, stuffed into a baked chicken
Vegetable Saute with Roasted Garlic
Cabbage Salad
Dessert is going to be the same chocolate pie I made for J's birthday, but we're going to put peppermint candy flakes on top and call it a Christmas pie :)
Christmas Day Dinner:
Cranberry Chicken and Pears
Sweet Potato Casserole (I drool when I see this recipe)
Green salad w/apples and walnuts
Creamed Onions
Dessert is going to be lots of yummy goodies we make on Christmas Eve!
I almost forgot breakfasts for both days. I think we're going to do breakfast burritos on Christmas Eve morning (Jason and Ethan's favorite) and then Christmas morning we'll do gingerbread pancakes with eggs, sausage & fruit.
How about you? What will you all be eating?
