she's our barista!

My lovely little sister Emily moved up here back in July. We've been enjoying having her here; its mostly fun just having a tiny bit of true family in the area. She's a shift manager at Starbucks just down the street from our house, so we get to drop in on her quite often! Today I decided to sneak my camera in -- she hates having pictures taken of her, but oddly enough, she doesn't mind taking pictures of herself. She's weird, what can I say. 
Anyway, I snapped a couple funny ones and a couple good ones. 


"you better NOT be taking a picture of me!"


but she begins to cave.

and it makes Em laugh pretty hard :-D

OH man! I hook up at Starbucks! Nice. They just replaced Tullys at Seattle Children's. It was quite the talk for awhile. Nothing against Tullys, but nobody does a Hazelnut Latte like Starbucks.

Thanks everyone! She'll appreciate your kind words. When I showed her the post last night, after I got it all set up, she thought it was pretty humiliating. I reassured her that everyone would love the pictures and so she let me post it :)

keeping the sickies away

Probably like most of you Moms, I've been sick of being sick throughout the winter. Its such a fun, holiday time of year and totally stinks when you're stuck inside, with illnesses. And, if you're not a fan of getting a vaccine for every little bug that goes around, you end up realizing you have to do your research to learn how to build up the immune systems and keep your brood healthy. I'm also learning that when it comes to sickness {we're talking sickness that won't cause death}, its actually good for our bodies to learn to fight things off naturally and not constantly running to get shots or drugs to cure us from ever getting sick again {which those shots don't do anyway}.  I'm no pro and my oldest child isn't even 7 yet, so I'm definitely not posting this to teach you ladies anything. And, for those of you with older kids, feel free to leave tips for how you keep your family healthy or natural ways to fight off colds and viruses.
