we had a wine tasting

My friend Katie hosted the most fun Moms night out for the MOMS club! 
Her husband Jason {who I grew up with} is quite the connoisseur and did a fabulous job 
hosting a wine tasting for all the moms. 
It was such a relaxing, fun, educational evening ;-) 
Seriously though, I did learn a lot about different wines, 
how to properly taste and enjoy wine, 
and then I learned about how each of my friends handle too much wine ;-D

seriously, the food was yummers. 
Everything was so tasty and light, which is always nice, 
because you can eat and eat and not notice you're over eating!

Getting out of the house, to relax with my hubby and/or friends is amazing! 
Its so fun to be kidless every so often, cut loose and enjoy each other's company. 
I'm really thankful for each one of these ladies and the friendship I share with them.

Jason did an excellent job with the tasting. 
He gave us all really nice print outs, with the wine labels; 
explaining how the wine should taste, what to pair it with and how to drink/taste it.

is it bad that I don't remember this picture being taken?! 
I promise I didn't drink too much. 
I don't handle wine very well {at all} so with each tasting I did, 
I had to drink twice as much water, to over compensate 
and keep from getting light headed. 
It worked!  :)

My favorite thing about this picture {aside from Carson's amazing laugh} 
is that she has Audrey in the front pack, while at a wine tasting. I love it!

It looks like you all had a wonderful time.
I love going to wine parties with ladies! A couple of ladies (from my church) and I went to a wine bar in Missoula last week and had a wonderful time. It is nice to have a little mommy time away from the children.

I was part of a mom's group when my oldest was little. I sure don't remember wine tastings! You guys are so much more fun. :-)

One Thousandth blog post + GIVEAWAY!!

This marks the  one thousandth blog post   for me !  If you added the blogging over at Jastef.net, I'm sure it would be far more, but I haven't blogged over there since Kara was a baby. For my simple mind, Blogger worked out much better for me. Sorry, husband.  I've been at this blogging thing for almost 8 years and I'm still not sick of it! keeping the sickies away

Probably like most of you Moms, I've been sick of being sick throughout the winter. Its such a fun, holiday time of year and totally stinks when you're stuck inside, with illnesses. And, if you're not a fan of getting a vaccine for every little bug that goes around, you end up realizing you have to do your research to learn how to build up the immune systems and keep your brood healthy. I'm also learning that when it comes to sickness {we're talking sickness that won't cause death}, its actually good for our bodies to learn to fight things off naturally and not constantly running to get shots or drugs to cure us from ever getting sick again {which those shots don't do anyway}.  I'm no pro and my oldest child isn't even 7 yet, so I'm definitely not posting this to teach you ladies anything. And, for those of you with older kids, feel free to leave tips for how you keep your family healthy or natural ways to fight off colds and viruses.  ...
