Whirlwind Wedding Weekend

... Say that 5 times fast :)

On Thursday night we dropped Ethan & Rachel off with our good friends here in Washington, had our friend David meet us at their home to drive us to the airport, boarded our plane around 8pm and took off for California! We arrived in Oakland, were greeted by our friend Brian, where he drove us to his home in Monterey. Kara was a champ on the plane ride. Since it was so late {and she got the cold I had last week} she was nice and tired. When the plane's engines came on and began to go down the runway, Kara was fast asleep. She didn't wake up when the plane landed, she didn't wake up as we carried her to get our luggage, she didn't wake up when we put her in Brian's car, she didn't wake up when we put her in bed at midnight. She woke up around 8am the next morning, asking "are we home?"
We spent Friday morning/afternoon with Shanna {Brian's wife} and their two girls Raysa and Aliya. We took the kids to our all time favorite park, Dennis the Menace and then met up with Brian and their friend Andrew {who stayed with us in Washington last month} for lunch on the wharf. It was SO good to be in Monterey again. We've missed it very much.
Kara's cold has stayed at bay for the most part. She's been stuffed up and more tired than usual, but I'm sure the traveling played a part in that. I was really glad she got a nice long nap in on Friday afternoon.

We got up this morning at 5:30, headed to the airport {thank you, Brian!} and boarded our plane home around 9am. The flight home was smooth and uneventful - Kara sat on Jason's lap the whole time, so I actually got to sleep for the first time on a plane :)
She didn't make a peep and did great through the whole flight. We landed in warm, sunny Seattle {not at all what was on the weather report} and are quite happy to be home and reconnected with our older cuties.
It definitely was a whirlwind weekend, but it couldn't have gone smoother and was extremely fun!

*since getting home, the tiredness and exhaustion has set in ... for all of us. It was definitely worth it!

**I posted the wedding post below this one, just FYI

Raysa at Dennis the Menace park

I ran across this same bridge when I was a baby :)

Aliya - completely adorable.

Aliya loves the ipad and uses it with great skill.
I had to capture a picture of her with it :)

Stef! We just missed you in Monterey! We were there today with Scott's parents.
Jenny was a beautiful bride, too. Thanks for sharing!

Awww, would've been fun to "run into" you all!
It was weird having such a short visit and rough not being able to see everyone we would've loved to see!

I know the Dennis the Menace Park! I lived in Monterey until I was in fifth grade. The Monterey Bay Aquarium makes our Seattle one look like a goldfish bowl! :-)
So glad for you that she did so well on the plane. Man, does that change the tone for a trip.

How funny- we were in Monterey this weekend too, visiting some of our closest friends from Colorado who just moved there over the summer. We drove down there on Friday afternoon and left Saturday afternoon. It was a crazy, busy time but we enjoyed it so much. AMAZING weather!
