I want to be...

... a person who makes new year's resolutions and keeps them.
I kept most of the ones I made for 2010 and its inspired me to make more for 2011.
Do you set New Year's resolutions?

I used to think the idea was so silly
I thought we should be that way all year round and not making empty promises
to ourselves at the beginning of each year, knowing full well we won't keep them.
So then I decided my goals needed to be more realistic and things I very much desire to see happen.
Not just "if only's".
I'm getting a head start on this, because I'm anticipating being very busy near the
end of December, into January. I don't want this to fall through the cracks.
So for 2011 I've made a small, but important {to me} list of desires/resolutions.

*I want to be more purposed and intentional in my relationship w/Christ.
I love Him more than any other... so my life and the way my time is
spent needs to reflect that. And not out of duty or drudgery, but out of love.

*I want to read the book Doctrine, write up my testimony and apply
for membership at our church.
And once we become members, I want to get more involved in service.

*I want to go through my Around the World cookbook and try at least 5 recipes.
Particularly ones that intimidate me :)

*I want to read George Bush's new book, Decision Points

*I want to continue working out. This is a goal I set for last year and I'm so thrilled
I mainly stuck to it! I lost all the weight I wanted to and felt so much better -
even though I dealt with some major yucky back pain.
My Dr. had me stop working out from July-October {ugh}
but other than that, I was very faithful with it and boy, has it paid off!
I'm thrilled to have lost weight and to be in better shape, but I'm honestly more
happy about how much better I feel.

*I'd like to be more creative at showing my husband that I love him, in very simple,
basic ways. I think sometimes those every day things can show love
more than the big things. I want to get better about making his lunch for work
everyday. Its something little and I know he doesn't mind making his lunch every so often,
but I know it shows him, quite simply, how much I love him, when I do those little things.

*Meal planning. This will be the year I will master it.
Enough said.

So, there's my list. I try to keep it under 10 things.
I'd love to read some of yours! I know those of you with blogs
will probably blog about it... and I very much look forward to reading them.
I've been inspired by so many of yours in the past and I think its a great tradition
in the blog world :)
