This is one of my favorite weekends out of the whole year!
Last year we were able to attend our church's Good Friday service {speaking of which, why don't all churches do those?} and I was so incredibly blessed by it. I remember loving the way it prepared me for Resurrection Sunday. I loved how sober and quiet and very dark it was. I mean literally dark, not dark as in a mood. The lights were very dimmed and the realization of what this day meant for Jesus's family and followers those 2+ thousand years ago - I just remember sitting there in my seat thinking how sad it was that the years before were spent with us just ignoring this amazing day in history. I know its not the "actual" day Jesus suffered, was tortured, bled and died on a cross to save ME from the pit of Hell. To give ME the free offer of His mercy and grace and to do what I could never and would never do.
What a day! The kids and I talked a lot about this today. It was weighing very heavily on Ethan's heart. At one point he was playing with a new lego set and he asked me "is it wrong that we should play and be so normal on this day, Mommy?" I totally understood his question. I felt that way many times today.
So much so, that I got annoyed that Earth Day was slated to be on Good Friday and that Starbucks {tried} to make a free cup of coffee what we're rejoicing over on this magnificent day. Blah.

Sadly for us, Amazon had some major {I do mean major} issues they were trying to fix and recover from, so they kind of stole our Daddy for the entire day/night. He just got home about 20 minutes ago and its 11pm. So since we only have one car and Jason took it to work, we had to skip the service at church, didn't end up getting to join our friends for a picnic lunch at the park, and then around 11am my laptop decided it had seen its last day and quit. With no warning. Jason is researching and trying to figure out if he can bring it back to life, but its not looking good.

Just wanted to pop in and wish you all a most wonderful Resurrection/Easter weekend!! I hope your time with family & friends is blessed. Our family can't wait for Sunday. Its truly our favorite holiday out of the year. We love the service at church {this year all of our church campuses are joining in ONE place, Qwest Field in Seattle} and we'll be Worshipping there with close to or over 20,000 people! Its going to be a little taste of Heaven for us.

Thank you, Lord Jesus for sending your only Son to die in my place,
to cleanse me from my sin, and to prepare an eternal home for me with You!

Thank you for the cross.
Thank you that the story doesn't end in the garden.
Thank you for your boundless love and mercy.
Thank you the story didn't end at the cross either.
Thank you for the empty tomb, for the risen Savior, and for Glory that awaits us!

1 Corinthians 15:56-58
"The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law.
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you.
Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that you
labor in the Lord is not in vain."
