4th of July {day}

   We started off the 4th of July greeting this cutie boy's smile.
He flashes smiles at Daddy every morning, on his way to work.
Jason says all is right in the world when he sees it :)

 We enjoyed breakfast at our favorite joint and then a trip to
   Mercer Island Park in our patriotic clothes.

 There's a song I've heard on the radio that has made me cry.
Its a country song {somewhere Jason is cringing}
and a couple verses in particular get me.
They pull at my heart.
When I see pictures like this, I think of those verses in that song.

Remember when the sound of little feet
Was the music we danced to week to week
Remember when thirty seemed so old
Now lookin' back, it's just a steppin' stone
To where we are, where we've been
Said we'd do it all again
Remember when

Remember when we said when we turned gray
When the children grow up and move away
We won't be sad, we'll be glad
For all the life we've had

And we'll remember when...

   Maybe because I've known my in-laws since I was 14 years old
or maybe everyone is this way...
I remember being little.
I remember my parents and Jason's parents being just a bit older than we are now.
I remember thinking our teens and college years would take forever to pass.
And here we are.
We're the parents.
They're the Grandparents.
And it all actually went by so fast.

   I'm holding onto these years as best as I can.
I fully expect to look at this picture in years to come and say
something like, "Doesn't this seem like it was yesterday?!"

That Alan Jackson song makes me cry, too. And guess what, it even makes Scott cry. The word picture is powerful.
Thanks for the reminder. Life is precious!
