Walk already!

Many of you have been asking "is Rachel walking yet?!" and I'm here to tell you all, no... she's not. This girl, much like her brother, has decided that talking is way more important to her. She's turning into quite the talker, putting 2 words together really well and understanding most of what we say to her. Ethan did the same thing and I remember my Dr. telling us that kids will either walk first or talk first, but usually not both. Ethan didn't walk until he was 15 months old, so she's got time.
She's getting very close; often standing all by herself and she has taken a couple steps and then realizes she's alone and sits down. :)
I'm eager for her to walk, so her knees can quit getting so scratched, but I know the day she walks, I'll be sobbing, because my baby is growing up!

That's funny...Kyle didn't walk until he was 15 months either. I remembering wondering if he was ok, and only because Madison was walking by 9 months.

Ah, enjoy the days when she can't walk b/c once they walk, they RUN! :)

All kids go at their own pace!

My kids are the opposite, early walkers, late talkers.

Awww...enjoy it. Jenna's just now beginning to talk more than just the typical "mama, dada" but she is ALL OVER the place with the walking and running. I am so looking forward to her being able to use words to communicate with us.

Well, here's the thing with Rachel... she has become a master crawler, so she can do all the same things walkers can, she just likes killing her knees, apparently. :) I'm amazed at the high places she can get to and ALL the stuff she manages to get into. We were spoiled with Ethan - he was way more mellow than she is.

I went and looked in E's journal I wrote for him, just to double check and realized... I'm wrong! I wrote in there that he was walking at 14 months! He wasn't walking completely and all the time, but he could take up to 20 steps by himself at 14 months. So... Rachel is officially slow. :)

One Thousandth blog post + GIVEAWAY!!

This marks the  one thousandth blog post   for me !  If you added the blogging over at Jastef.net, I'm sure it would be far more, but I haven't blogged over there since Kara was a baby. For my simple mind, Blogger worked out much better for me. Sorry, husband.  I've been at this blogging thing for almost 8 years and I'm still not sick of it! keeping the sickies away

Probably like most of you Moms, I've been sick of being sick throughout the winter. Its such a fun, holiday time of year and totally stinks when you're stuck inside, with illnesses. And, if you're not a fan of getting a vaccine for every little bug that goes around, you end up realizing you have to do your research to learn how to build up the immune systems and keep your brood healthy. I'm also learning that when it comes to sickness {we're talking sickness that won't cause death}, its actually good for our bodies to learn to fight things off naturally and not constantly running to get shots or drugs to cure us from ever getting sick again {which those shots don't do anyway}.  I'm no pro and my oldest child isn't even 7 yet, so I'm definitely not posting this to teach you ladies anything. And, for those of you with older kids, feel free to leave tips for how you keep your family healthy or natural ways to fight off colds and viruses.  ...
