Dancing with Daddy

Rachel loves putting on a dress or shawl or, anything that will twirl. Then she goes around the house asking "who will dance with me?" Ethan typically offers and gets great satisfaction out of successfully twirling her around, without knocking her over.
Jason offered to be "Prince Charming" this time and so they danced. I sat over in the kitchen having a completely hormonal moment, while I watched them, realizing that the day would come too soon for them to have their Father-Daughter dance at her wedding. Sigh...

I'm not sure why, but I'm constantly reminding myself how fast time goes by. I think its partly because as I re-visit my past, I'm amazed at how quickly everyone has grown up. Kids I baby sat as infants are now off in College. Its crazy, but such a reminder to enjoy the moments now, to live IN them, create memories and not to sit and try to find ways to speed things up and make them grow up faster. It will come soon enough. :)

Oh boy, this is SOOo sweet! I have to block out those thoughts of when they will grow up, it deeply saddens me. It goes so fast! I wonder if our parents felt the same.

I just had to tell you that I was listening to the radio yesterday and heard Steven Curtis Chapman's song "Cinderella" (not sure if that's the correct name). A few of the lyrics were about a father dancing with his daughter when she was little and then when she grew, right before her wedding. I totally thought of your post and had the pictures of Jason and Rachel in my head. Brought tears to my eyes.

Jenn, that song always makes me cry, mostly because of his little girl's death last year. :(
I actually thought of that song when Jason and Rachel were dancing together because Rachel kept saying "Daddy, I'm Cinderella and you're Prince Charming!"
