you know how people say "weather permitting" when they're making plans with someone?
Well, around here, you learn to say that A LOT.
Otherwise you'd be in for quite the disappointment, quite often :)
We enjoyed almost 2 weeks of full sun and what looked like the beginnings of Spring
{though the temps remained pretty low} and I think some famous groundhog saw his shadow
whatever that even means, since it never seems to bring Spring any sooner.
but you'd never know it this week. Snow, snow, snow!!

this is what the blizzard looked like. The wind was blowing so hard, the snow
was coming directly at our windows. I got a kick out of seeing the BIG snowflakes!

from my bedroom window... literally minutes after the blizzard.

skies got blue, sun came out....

and kids went out to play!

we ended up getting quite a bit more snow over the next couple of days, but I was
too much of a wimp to go out and take pictures.

{taken through the family room window}

I loved this one because you can totally see the next storm coming in from Seattle!

the sunset was beautiful that night.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
and while it hailed and snowed and the wind blew...
we were in the house, cozy in our pj's - all day long.
I dug through clothes bins in the garage {Kara is already needing some 3T clothes}
and did things like vacuum the stairs - why is this task so daunting for me?!
got caught up on laundry.
and of course, did lots of school, games and crafts.
for the kids penmanship we use 'Handwriting Without Tears'
and its been a great program!
I made lunch for Kara and sat her down at the kitchen table, only to find her,
moments later, up at the kitchen counter on one of our stools,
looking at one of my favorite DIY/photography websites.
She's Mommy's girl, that's for sure! :)
I found these containers at IKEA for less than $5 a piece!
I wanna say the big red one was $3.50 and the white one was $2
I found a couple pictures I think Kara took with my camera and decided to post them,
as proof to those of you who think my house is always clean.
I assure you, its not.
Especially since we've begun home schooling - I find that the kitchen table
always looks like a library threw-up on it, or a secret experiment is taking place.
there you have it. we have messy days too :-)
Can you believe we got snow?! It is so cold! What age range is the handwriting without tears? Would it work for Hannah?
I love the big RELAX sign over your bookcase! I think it might be mocking me a bit. hee hee :-)
Ah, I am so jealous! All week long we were told it might snow here on Friday night... then on Friday morning they changed it to it WILL snow... then nothing. Boo. Silly weather people getting my hopes up and then just dashing them against some rocks.
Carrie, the snow has been amazing! Do you guys live IN Seattle? My husband said it wasn't sticking there as much, but then I think he told me yesterday it actually did.
We still have quite a bit in our neighborhood - its fun driving around seeing everyone's snow men :)
Thanks! That Relax sign is something I used to have by my jetted tub in our house in CA (it seemed fitting) and now I like keeping it where I can see it often (probably for the same reasons you thought it was mocking you!) haha :)
Krista, SO sad! I keep seeing all these people on FB saying its snowing in the bay area - do you still have none? I wonder if you're too close to the ocean.
Nice messy house photos. Well done, Kara. :)
So cute that the kids got to have snow day in their own backyard! Fun!
Carrie, I forgot to answer your question about the HWT program - yes! I think Hannah would love it!! I like how hands on it is. My kids are really good with stuff they can hear, then DO, then look at. The "doing" part seems to help them make the mental connection.
Thanks Erin (those were secretly for Laura :)
Looks like you guys got the snow we were in search of. :-) What fun! You guys get the best sunsets too--or you're just really good at capturing them :-)
LOL! 'the kitchen table always looks like a library threw up on it...'
Totally hear you on that one!
And what beautiful pictures of the sky. Really , really fun to have snow.
I would love to have some snow! The Livermore hills had some and "they" said it was going to snow in the Bay Area, but it did not. Snow is cool, looks fun.
