a little trip for Mom...

Image
A few months back a friend of mine in California asked if I could possibly make it out for her baby shower. My first thought was,  "not unless it happens to be the weekend of Christmas" , since I knew we'd be out then and never thought I'd be able to come again, so soon, just myself. But it turns out, God wanted me there. I logged on one night in late December to check flights for January 13th and lo and behold, there it was... $40 each way, which made the low grand total of $80 bucks. I was stunned. Flights have been SO expensive lately and this blew me away. Jason encouraged me to go and go alone, so I could enjoy the break away, especially before baby arrives. I'm one week before my 3rd trimester, so my midwife gave me the all clear as well, so I bought the tickets and did a little happy dance. I had a delayed flight on Friday {the 13th no less} and didn't think I was superstitious until just about everything that could go wrong, started to. The fligh...

a day out

Image
For some reason its been a long while since we've made it into  Seattle for the day. The day before I left for my trip to CA, the kids and I decided  to venture out there and enjoy our favorite sights.   our most favorite donut shop was closed down, since they're remodeling  part of the Market, but we enjoyed some vegan donuts at my  favorite coffee spot, Seattle Coffee Works.   best decaf mocha, ever .   we had a little fashion show at the Market.  and stayed until the sun went down, picked Daddy up from work and went home.

Guest Post: Snow Day

Image
[Stef is in California for a few days, so this is Jason. Regularly scheduled programming will resume in a couple days.] The Seattle area got a good dumping of snow on Sunday. We got a dusting on Saturday night, then after church on Sunday, it started to come down in earnest. Here's a few photos from our afternoon (I've posted the full set to Facebook): The snow started coming down during church.  We had lunch next door at Rock Bottom, and watched the snow come down outside.  When we were done eating, we had a brief snowball fight outside. The drive home was a bit of an adventure, but when we go there, we played out side all afternoon.

who had Mommy's camera?

I was going through my cell phone pictures the other day and came across a chunk of these.  Always makes me laugh when I realize, when I wasn't looking, someone took my phone.  Looks like we were at Costco, checking out during these pics, which makes sense.  I was busy doing self check-out and she took advantage ;-) These were taken back in early November.  I guess that tells you how often I clean out my cell phone pix.

Sunday... from last week

{ L ast }   S unday was a great day. We usually enjoy them, but this last Sunday was  especially fun & full for our family.  We got home exhausted, but in a good way.  Started off the day with church.  Went to Whole Foods for lunch *yum* Jason took Rachel on an outdoor ice skating date.  Turns out she's quite the skater!  Jason said she never fell and she came out all smiles,  wanting to sign up for lessons :)  While Daddy and Rachel were ice skating, Ethan, Kara and I hung out and  explored the park we've been wanting to go to since we moved here,  and went to the Mall. We also had fun taking a bunch of pictures, since they were  in rare picture taking mode ;-)   Kara is showing me her "loose" tooth.  Poor thing feels very left out, having not lost any teeth yet.  after ice skating we all played at the playground  before heading back...

Museum fun!

The day after New Year's we went to a Children's museum near our house and got to bring Daddy with us, since he had the day off work.  We went with our friend Sharon {from church} and her 3 kids and had a blast!  Decided at the end of our visit to buy the family pass for the year :)      Ethan and Cameron...  water play      Rachel was at the craft table for a good hour :)    this water feature was really neat -  you get to arrange the logs in the "river" and create your own  log run for the balls and boats to run down.  Its quite exciting when your boats goes all the way through the current and makes  it to the very bottom!      Jason told them to look like pirates...
