the quick and simple

One major thing I desire my kids to see is Matthew 11:28-30 lived out.  "Come to me all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.  Take my yolk upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart,  and you will find rest for your souls.  For my yolk is easy and my burden is light." To follow Jesus and give your life to Him doesn't mean a life of sudden do's and don'ts and it certainly doesn't mean a life of sadness or constant grief over what a terrible person I am. Do my kids really see the joy of the Lord in me? Do they see me giving each burden to Jesus? Do they know from watching Mommy every day, that following Jesus is yes, a life of putting sin to death; putting off the old man and putting on the new creature in Christ.... but do they see that tried in my strength or do they see it done in God's strength and power? Can they see him working his perfect will out in me, or will walking with God look to them l...

today

The days seem to be going by in super speed these days. Before I know it, its 3pm and time to get dinner prepared. Today felt like an exceptional day. I'm not sure why, we didn't do anything out of the ordinary or spectacular. Maybe that's why. It was an ordinary day. Miles is growing, I'm sure of it. We spend many, many moments of our day cozy on the couch - him nursing and me either reading, watching a cooking show on Food Network, or having one of the kids read to me. He loves when I read out loud. His little eyes stare at me the whole time in wonderment {is that a word?} and you can tell he thinks its all for him :) I got this new book  and I love it. Wishing I had it several years ago, but thankful for it now, nonetheless. I'm already on chapter 6 and realizing this will be a book I at least skim through quite often, even after I'm done reading it through. The kids and I ran errands today, which is always fun. My kids love being out and about and I ...

Father's Day 2012

To the man God blessed me with.  The man who helps me raise our kids.  The man who works hard everyday for our family.  And the man who still makes me laugh-out-loud ...  Happy Father's Day.  I love you so much. Psalm 112:1 "Blessed is the man who fears the Lord,  who greatly delights in His commandments."

the music

I found a player from Grooveshark  to play music here on my site. I apologize in advance, there is no shuffle option. So every time you come the same song will play automatically, in the same order. Its annoying, but such is life. I put the player on the top right side of the site, so you can easily switch to a different song, if you're tired of the same ones. And, if you don't like the music option, just push pause!

I love these 4 little people.  One is 7.  One is almost 6 {pinch me!}  One has been "almost four" since the day she turned 3.  One is brand new and still in the counting-by-weeks phase.  I look at their little faces and wonder what they'll be when they grow up.   Ethan changes his future occupation daily.  Right now I believe he wants to design airplanes.  Rachel wants to be a Doctor and a Mommy.  Kara, a Chef or a Mommy or both.  I took this picture with my iPhone.  Technology amazes me these days.  I was nursing Miles while watching a show on TV  I took 4 pictures out of my iPhone camera, used the Diptic app to turn it into this collage.  Then turned it black & white and blurred it near the bottom & top. Took less than 5 minutes.   I will be framing it.

just words

Lately it seems like I sit to nurse and to drive. Otherwise I'm moving, moving, moving. Right now there's a laundry basket at my feet filled with clean, folded clothes. Here I am, thrilled they're clean and folded. I'll eventually put them away but for now, seeing them clean and folded gives me such satisfaction. Hey! its better than a Mt. Rainier sized pile of dirty clothes, waiting to be cleaned. I cleaned the toilet today from top to bottom - only because Kara got to the potty late and had an accident. If one of my kids did that once a week, the toilet would be spotless at all times. I've set a goal for this month. For me, its a big goal. I'm excited to see if I can follow-through and actually see the goal to completion: I will return my library books on time this month. Yes, our goal making has gone down a bit. I even put a reminder in my iPhone... so I have no excuses. I've jumped back into the world of meal planning, grocery list making and m...
